WESTBORO BASEMENT PAINT PROJECT ...

ERICA AND SCOTT'S BASEMENT - REC ROOM AND DEN ...

Erica and Scott had their basement reno'd a few years ago ... recently they had the ceiling redone with pot lights and a smooth ceiling finish. The contractor primed only part way down the wall but did not finish the job. Luckily I was on Twitter at the right time when Erica noticed that I posted something about painting - the power of social media!

The basement consists of 2 rooms ... a good sized rec room and a cozy den. Both were painted in a buttery yellow but my clients wanted it painted in a warmer taupe to match the futon and the new carpeting that was to be installed shortly after I finished painting.

The walls were painted with a very flat paint - not very practical for a house with 3 little boys! Finger prints galore!

You can see here where the contractor only primed part way down the wall ... WTF? Half-assed jobs really bug me!

The blue industrial carpet was put down as a temporary solution until the new carpeting  was waiting to be laid after the painting was completed.

The den ... ready for a make over!
First coat of the taupe ... looking better already!

Even though it was a darker paint, it actually brightened up the space.

So fresh!

The den complete!

New carpet laid a few days after I finished painting ... love the end result!

Erica's testimonial via Twitter: "Janet was great - excellent painting (and a bit of plastering), good rates and pleasant to have around! : ) #recommend"

... just yesterday I met with Erica and Scott to do more work in their home ... but that's another post!
